With just a month to go until the referendum deadline, more than $15 million has now been raised for the Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Māori Art Gallery.

Whangarei’s Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Maori Art Gallery takes centre stage on Prime Minister’s Northland visit

A Homage To Hundertwasser Art Exhibition is open from Friday 7 April, 2017 until 4 June 2017 at the Whangarei Art Museum, giving locals the chance to view a collection of rare and unique artworks associated with the project.

The Hundertwasser Art Gallery with Wairau Maori Art Gallery has received a much-needed boost from Northland Regional Council who have committed $1.5million to the project from the Investment Growth Reserve Fund.

Celebrated New Zealand artist Dick Frizzell has produced a unique tribute to help with the effort to raise funds for the Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Māori Art Gallery. The image entitled ‘Hommage à Hundertwasser’ puts a New Zealand twist to a painting that Hundertwasser did for an Austrian stamp in 1975. Frizzell’s version has the words ‘Whangarei Tiki’ where the stamp says “Republik Österreich 4s”.
